“The Wild Girl of Catahoula” Book Launch

Anticipation swirled through the air just prior to the release of Yvette Landry’s latest Louisiana Folktale titled, The Wild Girl of Catahoula. The much awaited release took place in Breaux Bridge, LA, on September 28, 2025. The signing, held in conjunction with the 100-year dedication of the historic
building that houses Café Sydnie Mae, had the streets filled with music, food samplings
and arts and crafts. Representatives from the Louisiana Lt. Governor’s office attend the dedication.

The Wild Girl of Catahoula follows the story of Mike and Yvette, who grew up
listening to their Pop recount stories of the Catahoula swamp. Tall tales of
creatures that could only live in nightmares… Yet when a family outing to the
backwoods of Catahoula goes awry, Yvette soon discovers that strange things happen where the black
trees grow.

Yvette Landry is the award-winning author of The Ghost Tree, Madame Grand Doigt, and A Conversation with the Godfather of Swamp Pop. She grew up in Breaux Bridge, LA, and was the State of Louisiana Music
Ambassador in 2013 and 2019, the former Director of Louisiana Folk Roots Summer Cajun & Creole
Music Kids Camp, and was recently inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. The Wild Girl of
Catahoula is available locally and online wherever books are sold.
