“The  Healin’ Song” Fund is a field of interest fund that supports the “healing” needs of of those affected by tragedy in Acadiana; spiritual, mental, financial or physical.  In addition, funds can be used for college or university scholarship assistance  (books and tuition).  The fund proceeds coming from “The Healin’ Song” which was written and recorded by Jo-El Sonnier and several other Grammy winners,  a veritable who’s who of Cajun and zydeco music.
The primary funding for this purpose will come from digital downloads of “The Healin’ Song” from iTunes and other sources. However, members of the public who would like to donate to “The Healin’ Song” fund can do so via the Community Foundation of Acadiana here.

“The Healin’ Song” was written by Sonnier following the events of Sept. 11, 2001, but only decided to record it after the 2015 shooting tragedies in Lafayette and Sunset. He enlisted the help of Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne, who secured a videographer and, with generous cooperation from the Community Foundation of Acadiana, helped establish a fund to serve as a readily available means for Acadiana’s people to respond to their community’s needs.

For an accompanying music video, Sonnier enlisted the help of an all-star ensemble of musicians and studio professionals with almost 40 Grammy nominations and 10 Grammy Awards among them.   Some of the all-star participating artists were Chubby Carrier, Yvette Landry, Steve Riley, Michael Doucet, Roddie Romero, Sonny Landreth, Eric Adcock and several others.
